WP7: How To Add Analytics Without Any Code With Dotfuscator

6 September 2011

Been thinking about adding some analytics to Noborizaka just so I can get a little bit more visibility around how it's being used and other data that'll help me improve it; and my first attempt at integrating analytics was with the MSAF (Microsoft Silverlight Analytics Framework). To my dismay, it turns out that MSAF is not currently compatible with Mango...so I needed another solution.

Enter Preemptive solutions's Dotfuscator. I had no idea, but it turns out that it's free (and forseeably free into the future, apparently), easy to use and can obfuscate and add analytics to your .xap post-compilation! All you have to do is follow the three or so steps in their quick guide, and it's done, no new code, no nothing. Simple.

It's so easy there's really no reason not to do it.
