How To Stop Visual Studio From Debugging Javascript Errors For A Website Project

28 October 2014

Have you found that Visual Studio doesn't listen to you when you tell it not to debug your Javascript? You've started an instance of it via the Debug menu, but you don't want to pause every time a script error happens - however, the Internet Explorer Advanced Options / "Disable script debugging" option does nothing, and neither does Just-In-Time / unchecking "Script" from Types of Code from Visual Studio itself.

It turns out the sneaky workaround answer (because, while it's clearly a dumb bug that VS is ignoring your settings) is to enable silverlight debugging - you can't have Silverlight and Script debugging concurrently, so by doing so you'll stop those pesky script loads within VS!
